Photography, video and stories from Åland, Finland and the Nordic landscapes.

Chances are, you know little or nothing about these islands in the Baltic Sea. I knew surprisingly little myself, even though I had lived so close to them for many years.

Now I live here. Through my photographs and stories, I’ll try to show you a place shaped by the sea, the seasons and the quiet rhythms of island life — and explain what it is about Åland that made me fall for the place.

What is it about Åland…?

Colours of the Nordic Archipelago

One of the things I love about the North is how much the light changes through the year. Summer brings long, bright days, while the low winter sun creates warm, colourful skies in the afternoons and evenings.

The landscape may be the same, but the light can make it look completely different.
